Senior Thesis - À Mesa Portuguesa & Receitinhas Portuguesas
For my senior thesis, I wanted to focus on storytelling and build a connection to culture through it. The first part of my thesis is a bilingual cookbook with Portuguese recipes and stories. The book is primarily in Portuguese, but it contains translations for those who don’t speak Portuguese and want to learn. The second book I created is a smaller cookbook, primarily in English, with some translations in Portuguese for main things such as names, recipes, and ingredients. This cookbook is targeted towards children who want to connect with their culture and learn before it’s too late.
Postcards - Japan Study Abroad
During my time studying abroad, I learned many different things and the many cultural differences. Upon departure, we had an open-ended project to complete. I created postcards, one for each town or city that we visited, Tokyo, Yokosuka, & Shimoda, and one for my hometown, Bristol. On the front of each card is a photo taken at that location, and on the back is a cultural tip most people may not know.
